Try paying attention to the way women are portrayed in this series. For 3000 years they've been masters of the world and as a result the world is on the precipice of disaster by the time Lews Therin is reborn again. The custom of gentling nearly culled the One Power from humanity and resulting in Aes Sedai growing weaker and fewer in number. Aes Sedai managed to lose knowledge of countless skills due to their fear of experimentation and being content to simply do what came easily to them. They allowed the Black Ajah to infest their ranks because rooting them out would require upending their ancient traditions, and they couldn't have that.

It's hilarious that the Aes Sedai existed for 3000 years and yet the Asha'man were able to rival their numbers and power after existing for about a year, simply because the men were utterly fearless about experimenting with the One Power and willing to train anyone while the Aes Sedai were extremely selective and wasted their time memorizing 3000 year old parlor tricks.

I mean the Aes Sedai fuck everything up and get carried by Rand and Nynaeve so I wouldn't regard their opinions too highly.

I do get where you're coming from, the main characters are basedboys for most/all of the series and the Aes Sedai worship the ground they walk upon and except everyone else to do the same. But you really shouldn't take people who consistently fuck everything up seriously.
