Has anyone read any Alan Watts? I've listened to some of this speeches from youtube and while mildly interesting, they sometimes go off the rails pretty hardcore and I really feel like I need to put up with a lot of empty words in order to get to the meat of it. I was wondering if his literature would be more focused

I just don't feel this guy gets the recognition he deserves here. Was reading Schopenhauer's Will & Representation the other day and on the first fucking page it gives a shout out to the Vedas.

I just wanted to share in case you haven't heard of him. This board is very philosophically centered and yet eastern philosophy is not much discussed which is really shitty.

I know it’s a meme to discuss him, but is there any actual merit to Alan Watts’ philosophy? Are his views solid? Does his philosophy make sense? What is a good book to start with him?

My dad recently started to listen to his talks and I thought it would be smarter to listen to what Alan has to say rather than disregard him as a boomer who had a hard on for Taoism.

Started practising in the mornings and I really enjoy it. Right now its pretty vanilla- silent, legs crossed hands resting on knees. I'd like to learn more about it though, I've seen people on here talk about it before so maybe they'd like to share some knowledge?
