Read this a while ago. It was alright. 5/10.

As much as I disliked this book, it was exactly what I needed. Yes, I'm the same guy from a few threads ago - I finished all six hundred fucking pages of this travesty.

And it was actually okay. Helped to cleanse my palate after marathoning the entire Prince of Nothing series.

I'm 200 pages in, and I just can't stop reading it.

The bare-bones description. The gratuitous world building. The retarded wish fulfillment plot.The action hero quips that supplant actual dialogue.

But I can't stop.

I'm seething.

Why did nobody warn me how fucking bad this book is? Holy shit, I've heard nothing but high praises, but it's written from the perspective of a tweenage millennial.

There's no sense of place nor world. The main character is some teenage fedora tipping power gamer. It's fucking Brandon Sanderson all over again - WHY do fantasy readers have such shit taste?
