What is the best bible for the general readership to get a best understanding of its material? I'm planning to read the bible simply to stop being a pleb when it's influenced so much of what I already read, but idk which version to pick.

>KJV
Preferred by traditionalist boomers, but I've heard it contains a bunch of bullshit cooked up by the British.

>NSRV oxford annotated
Preferred by biblical scholars but some have protested the pozzing of this version mainly via "gender inclusive language", why the fuck should the bible need to "corrected" to modern sensibilities? Is this is a big enough problem to skip over it? I read on the blog of one of the translators that it's kinda shit in some areas and he disagrees with much of this kind of stuff.

There is also a beautiful 1850s bible on craigslist near me but the dude wants hundreds for it even though bibles made after 1820 are worthless for collectors. These are my two main contenders, wat do

If you don’t take the Bible 100% literally you’re opening the door to atheism

What's your favorite book of the Old Testament? For me, it's Ecclesiastes. I really connect to all the sense of regret.
