it absolutely works. women don't want to marry 'the sister they never had' kind of guy who's a little puppy with them. they want a guy who WON'T watch a rom com with them but will take them fishing but only because he was going anyway, and she'll have to learn to portage and gut a fish.
If you're a Star Wars convention kind of guy, do that. Never sacrifice any part of yourself, that is a HUGE turn-of for women.
Wait 10 years and you'll see a ton of male SJW's are single.

I took three years of high school Latin, and have now gone 7 years without. Just now, I'm reading Ovid, Augustine and Aquinas — Ovid can be tough, but Augustine's prose is very limpid (I can see why he was a rhetorician).

So, I'm writing on the relationship between 'amor sui' and 'superbia,' with reference to the Fall and the myth of Narcissus and Echo. It's like riding a bike. Of course, my writings are in English, but I have to justify my translations etymologically and explain why they have philosophical relevance.

/lit/ do you have suggestion for a book on Stoic philosophers? I am searching for a book to have a general overview of the history of the Stoa, proceeding chronologically from one philosopher to the other, underlining their differences.

I have Long&Sedley's The Hellenistic Philosophers: it's a great book but it proceeds thematically. I would like something more along Dillon's The Middle Platonists, but on Stoic philosophers. Is there anything like it, that you know of?

Let me know if you have suggestions! I can read English, French and Italian, so books in foreign languages are ok too.

Well, I know it isn't normal. I think part of it is just how much the books cost, and the reason I buy them is not just for their content, but also because as objects they are pleasing.

I work hard to keep them in good condition when I read them, so when something like this happens, it it fugging upsetting.

But yeah, I guessed it was probably autism.

Is how a man gains or keeps purity different from how a woman does?

There was an interesting thread a couple of days ago about a guy who was in a poetry class and almost all the students were women, one of the guys was a dunce, and another was well-read(OP himself considered himself to be along the same lines of the well-read one). He expressed confusion over how many of the women did not seek to truly understand and get under the skin of the poetry but simply to get it done and move on. And further: when attempting to understand the work, they implemented their own personal views and feelings, heavily relying on modern values, so for example if there was a poem where a woman was being married away in an arranged marriage, they'd focus on the "oppression" aspect, misogyny, sexism, and so on.
I would imagine the same would hold true for your classes, at least to some extent. Have you experienced something similar?

When you say
>tell people I love reading
do you mean actually saying
>"I love reading"
because that's what's going to get you grouped with those who go
>"omg i looooooove reading!"
not the fact that you read. It's just an aspect to think about.
Don't reveal your "power-level".
