Biden has I think mostly (completely?) ended restrictions which is why that attempt at a copycat tucker convoy in the U.S. flopped completely... they don't have anything to protest! Well at least not on that basis. Anyways, I had dinner in the Korean neighborhood tonight and most Asians around there were masked so there's definitely a cultural difference.

I wish you the best on your journey, but I've become quite the opposite of you in terms of the political direction, yet also at odds with mainstream liberal ideology. When people are talking about "NPCs" and "brainwashed sheeple," I really think that's wrong, but it's not wrong to say that people are repeating propaganda which takes ugly forms that the OP sees on social media. What "propaganda" does is more like an enabler for people to go on believing what they already wanted to believe, because it makes them feel good, or because it coheres with their lifestyles and makes them feel better about how they live, and because thinking otherwise would create dissonance which would screw up their world and make them uncomfortable.
