America cannot project power like it used to. If it could, Iran's influence wouldn't be growing in the Middle East, and it and Saudi Arabia would not be making amends. Israel would also not be trending towards Orban-style soft fascism.

India is literally murdering Canadian citizens and America can't do shit about it, because it has weakened to the point that it needs India as an ally if it has any hope of countering China in the Pacific.

Japan no longer trusts America to protect it, so it is massively building out its military and is about to ditch its pacifism.

What do you take these as signs of? The United States is no longer a guarantor of stability and prosperity in the world. America's word is increasingly ceasing to be law. Countries are gradually becoming comfortable with not actually listening to what America says.

The Church can and should do similarly. The time for Catholicism making any kind of peace with liberal democracy is passing. It's not a Catholic system of government.
