I have a high libido but if I don't masturbate for a few days I can go for as long as I want without any urges.
>How did you just lie there?
Just 7 days of agonizing boredom. You're allowed to read and walk around the room if you need to. I came out of it and tried to only introduce productive things back into my life but it didn't help at all. Wasn't long before I was back to video games and surfing

you have the ideology of pic related which I thought was true for a long time but it is only true to an extent. the fact is that your brain works through specificity. your brain hasn't greased the channels it uses to focus on reading. The only way to be able to read longer is to practice reading itself. even if you were placed in solitary confinement and totally deprived your brain for months, you would still not come out being able to read for 8 hours straight because your brain hasn't practiced doing that. but you can masturbate 5 times a day and do cocaine and spend all your free time on tik tok and still be able to sit down and read for hours IF you have had the habit of reading for long periods for years. if you want to be able to read longer you have to keep reading more.

Those books are cool but you don't need any of them. What you need is to take action.

Hello OP. I am 27. Same story. I always had grandeous visions of greatness and I was sure I would achieve them and join the great men from history books. I am gifted after all and the world is my oyster. What others struggle to grasp or is outright beyond their comprehension I master with ease. If someone told me that at 24 I would be sitting alone in the woods at 2 a.m. with a dagger in my hand ready to cut my left neck artery and end my miserable existence I could no longer bear I would dismiss their ridiculous notion and laugh it off. But unfortunately that's exactly how my life played out. I have learned a valuable lesson the hard way. That is mastering something and becoming great at it requires hard work and great deal of failing and adjusting. If something is so easy for you that it doesn't require constant trial and error then it's not important or spectacular (no matter how smart you are). However it's one thing to tell your self that you will put in the work and change your ways and another is actually doing it. What I quite recently found out is that the main obstacle to being in control and doing what you actually want to do is the abundance of easy to get dopamine in our society. I would suggest you do a dopamine detox and see the results for yourself (pic very related). If you manage to do that and overcome your dopamine addiction then you can continue to acquire knowledge in anything you like. You can either read books, watch video courses or regularly visit some workshop. It all depends on what you would like to learn. I am currently going the video course route in order to learn pen-testing and get a better job. Also I highly recommend you read a book called "make it stick". It's basically a book that sums up our current knowledge about how to learn efficiently. It also explains why the "smart kid" mindset is bad for you (You can trust me that the book is good when I tell you that, because you would be hard pressed to find a person that harbors greater disdain for self help literature than I do).

Here is a download link for the book
