Jimmy Joy's "The Dead" really touched me in my second reading. The first was just for a college class, but I revisited it soon after and cried at the ending. I found myself relating to Gabriel too much. He thought he was the better man, the best, a pseud with too much self worth and no sense of empathy. The fact that his wife never loved him, that he had never truly lived, and that he felt empathy enter his heart for the first time after living an empty life for so long, I felt an immense fear that I would turn into Gabriel if I continued with my current behavior. Ever since then, I've changed my attitude and have felt happier ever since.
Instead of believing myself to be better than everyone, I've applied more effort into fine tuning everything within myself. I don't do it to be better than everyone else, but I do it for the sake of my own betterment. I've given up video games, picked up a gym membership, read more, am teaching myself piano, and am preparing myself for wood carving and figure drawing. I've also become more spiritual, less religious. When it comes to understanding the world, I try to take a Socratic approach, which is extremely difficult, but I do my best.

What's the point of all this non-pleasant looking conceptual art? Is it like a logic puzzle for the viewers?

There's an excuse for Eve, but not for Adam.

Adam witnessed God create thing while Eve didn't. Eve only believed in God's power by word of mouth, not experience.
