I come to the level that I can understand and converse philosophical texts and ideas in German and realize that German as a language makes you understand and devise philosophical concepts intuitively. Compared with languages like French or English, where you need to seek the help of Latin and Greek, German stands out as a “self-sufficient” language.

What's the best way to improve a language when you're already at an intermediate level?
I've been taking german at uni and am now at a B1 level. I've noticed that most of what's left now is just vocabulary acquisition and memorizing grammar rules and exceptions, so I thought I'd improve my reading German books on my own, but I quickly realized that they're still completely illegible to me, and translating word-by-word takes too much time.

Foreign language thread. What are you learning, why?
Share tips.
Pic related for me. Does anyone have any good tips for immersion? Like things you have done to fully engulf yourself in a language when no one around you speaks it

Can anyone recommend me a good german learning book? I already have one called "grammatik", but it only deals with grammar. I'd like something that teaches through the nature method(like lingva latina per se illustrata), but I still haven't found anything like that.

Bonus points if it has exercises, audio lessons and/or tells an engaging story.
