Forget Kelhus, there is a Brother Rike inside all of us.
MC being cunnypilled is a plus too.

Was it good? Heard this series is better than Song of Ice and Fire.

Did I get filtered, or is this just Reddit’s idea of edge? There are a few things I like, such as the setting and the nuke cache, but the main character reads like a power fantasy OC for The Hunger Games. Worst of all, the main character is boring. He’s supposed to be irredeemable, but after being on here for over a decade, he seems too tame.

I honestly didn’t think he was that edgy in the first book, but I’ve admittedly never played the games.

If it’s straight up edge you want, you’d be hard pressed to beat Prince of Thorns.

You know nothing of edge OP, you are like baby. Have a man's edgey book.

That being said, I thought Name of the Wind was comfy as fuck after his childhood. Not great, but comfy.

What other comfy books would /lit/ recommend?

Mark Lawrence, Prince of Thorns

Any recommendations for well written, dark novels like this?

In fantasy or sci fi.

Mainly I'm sick of "comfy" fantasy/sff tropes.

So, I just finished Prince Of Thorns by Mark Lawrence. I mostly enjoyed it, even if some of it got a bit forced and overly edgy. Also, the whole thing while they're trying to get into the vault in the mountain just made me think of Adventure Time. Overall it was a good dark fantasy read though.

Has anyone else read it? What's your thoughts? Is it worth continuing with the series?

Well this was almost aggressively bad. Like "pssh nothing personell kid" level. Holy shit. I guess I should've taken the hint when the novel opens with the main character raping a 13-year-old and burning her alive that I'm in for an edgy ride, but it wasn't just that. It was all so boring.

Just finished the Broken Empire trilogy and was pleasantly surprised by how good the series was. Especially impressed with the ending although book two was definitely the best book overall especially with the twist at the end.

Any thoughts on the series?

Has anyone who's read the series also read The Red Queen's War trilogy? I'm looking for something more lighthearted and heard this might be a good choice.
