Tried reading this when I was an edgy teenager and threw it away. A lot of the “rules” contradict themselves. Should be called “How to lose friends and piss everyone off”

Hey guys, recommend me some excellent self-help books that will change my life. I have already read pic related and loved it. Currently reading how to win friends and influence people.

Is it like a cult thing or some Hollywood self-help book? why is it so popular?

It mostly seems to be a combination of:
>autists who can't understand basic social interactions
>guys who loved The Wolf of Wall Street and sigma male memes
>midwit businessmen
>semi-literate thugs
But I've also had well-adjusted normies praise this book to me, which I don't understand.
Do people like to fantasise about applying this stuff on real life or something like that? What's the appeal?

I'm looking for literature that will ultimately help heighten my social senses/awareness. Art of War was great; it still holds up today as the foundational teachings can be applied to any situation or industry.

Now I've come across this book, The 48 Laws of Power. The premise seems interesting enough, and I've read a brief synopsis online. I'm not necessarily looking to practice the ideals presented in these books, but moreso be more aware of them in my day-to-day.

Any other recommendations for books along these lines? Is the 48 Laws of Power even a good book to begin with?

Is Robert Greene a hack?

Why’d he write it? It is quite a well written book which expands on Machiavelli’s ideas, along with his contemporaries, but something always seemed off with both the book and the author.

is there any value to self help books? seems like everything of value can be learned by reading philosophy and history, though self help tends to condense the lessons into 400 page very readable books

Anybody read this?

I've been reading it and the "laws" seem pretty surface level. Like you could probably think of this stuff yourself. It presents itself as being some deep inside look into the "elite" but the weird anecdotes don't seem to have any relevance to my life.

Anybody actually read this and used one of these laws? Seems like you have to be a paedophile world leader for this to be of any use

Since I started reading this book I realized I was living in fantasy the whole time. Any recommendations for books that teaches same lessons as in this book
