Biblical canon is fixed, and that's a good thing. No new canon = no new propaganda inserted when the arbiters of canon inevitably get infiltrated by the devil

Which version of the Bible is the best from a literary perspective? I'm not religious and this simply being done for the pursuit of knowledge.

I've been enjoying this up to the latter chapters in Exodus where it starts to go on and on about all those tabernacle rules.

KJV is very readable and very beautifully written. It's poetic, grandiose and no other English translation can compare prose-wise in my opinion.

Badly edited, poor continuity and internal consistency. Authors seem to change between books. Plot is cliched and thin, with virtually no character development save for Judas Iscariot. The main characters of Jesus and Moses are entirely one dimensional messianic figures. The novel opens with Adam and Eve, and then ignores them for the next thousand pages or so. The built-in bookmark was a nice touch, but a little pretentious.

Oddly, it wasn't shelved with the other fiction books.

How do you unironically believe in this shit? You might as well believe that the Harry Potter story actually took place. Please enlighten me how you can take this all to heart, I beg you.

Pride is clearly a sin. But what about being proud of/for other people? Is that fundamentally different? Is it a narcissist way to link yourself to other people's accomplishments?

Just started reading this classic, at Genesis 30 currently. Jacob seems like a massive asshole. Any tips? I was also told I should only read the major books, but I feel like that's a cop out.
