>favorite book from my childhood.
Same, an annoying teacher made my class read a "classic" of our choosing every couple months back in middle school, and I'm really glad I happened to pick this one up. It just felt on another level from the typical action fiction stuff a young boy like me was reading. Although I never bothered with the sequels or movie(s?), which from what I hear might have been for the best. Honestly I need to reread it sometime to refresh my memory and see if I feel the same way now.

It's the first day of spring /lit/ bros! Share your favorite spring poetry/aphorisms.

To Spring - William Blake

O thou with dewy locks, who lookest down
Through the clear windows of the morning, turn
Thine angel eyes upon our western isle,
Which in full choir hails thy approach, O Spring!

The hills tell one another, and the listening
Valleys hear; all our longing eyes are turn'd
Up to thy bright pavilions: issue forth
And let thy holy feet visit our clime!

Come o'er the eastern hills, and let our winds
Kiss they perfumed garments; let us taste
Thy morn and evening breath; scatter thy pearls
Upon our lovesick land that mourns for thee.

O deck her forth with thy fair fingers; pour
Thy soft kisses on her bosom; and put
Thy golden crown upon her languish'd head,
Whose modest tresses are bound up for thee.

You are correct in fact. Fiction is the least manly scope of writing.

>Bitch Tier:
>fiction (of any kind)

>Acceptable Tier:
>nonfiction
>reference (civic, commercial, industrial)

>Master Tier
>academic
>philosophy

>spend years studying the Greeks
>study theology and the history of the early Church
>work my way up to the great modernists
>enjoy the aesthetic prose of Joyce and the gritty stream of consciousness of Faulkner
>put them down, since I now feel ready to tackle real literature
>crack open a wuxia novel fresh from the amazon warehouse
>years of training have prepared me to vividly visualize martial artists slapping each other to death with supernatural powers
