The larger the ethnic diversity, the less likely people are to marry outside of their groups. Which makes sense - if you're from the only Indian family in the town you're (hopefully) not going to marry your sister and are more likely to look for a partner in the dominent ethnic group. If enough Indians are in your town though you can create your own separate community, and an ethnic group can survive for thousands of years as a minority - see Jews, Romani Gypsys, Amish, Chinese in SE Asia etc. etc. etc. etc.
The West will be a caste based society in a thousand years.
