Your point is wrong if not outright delusional. Trump knew that he might lose in FL, VA and IA so he played with a strategy based on campaigning hard in "solid blue" rust belt states like PA, MI and WI. And guess what, it paid off big time, thinking that Trump is "dumb as a rock" is exactly why the dems were caught with their pants down in these states they took for granted.
