I'm climbing the ladder, lads. I am, actually, ALMOST done with my current project. I'm on the precipice of the finale, it's so close I can taste it.

Is there anything more exciting than to be in the midst of a big writing project? I find myself constantly thinking about what's going to happen to my characters next, what the next steps of the story are, imagining the plot points for the future I already have planned. It's genuinely a locus of joy in my life. I don't understand people who say being a writer is miserable, I never have more fun than when I'm in the midst of a project like this.

It's sad that I'm counting encouraging rejections as victories, but I'll take what I can get.

Not OP, but this is good to hear, Anon. It gives me a fair amount of hope, since I've had my fair share of rejections (with some publications in between).

I myself have a short story collection out for submission to a small publisher. Here's hoping I can be as fortunate as you.

My stories always pan out these days. I'm pretty good at finishing what I start.
