i liked it. it's a collection of his short journalism articles. i'd say quite a lot of the articles in it are fairly uk-specific so if you're not a britanon you might find it a bit mystifying. for example there's an article about ray gosling, the tv presenter who claimed to have killed a former gay lover in an assisted suicide, but turned out to be lying and was arrested for wasting police time and it pretty much ended his career. there's another article about the people who were caught cheating on who wants to be a millionaire, one about robbie williams being obsessed with ufos, etc etc.
if you liked any of his other writing like so you've been publicly shamed you'll like it. one problem with it is that the articles are not dated and there are no followups and i was forever googling stuff to find out the outcomes of things.

it's undeniably brilliantly written but really i found it a bit of a slog after about 300 pages. i guess i'm just not that interested in 19th century european infighting. an interesting thing about it is that every character except the central narrator was a real person. so there's a feeling of a kind of sinister thread of intrigue with this behind the scenes skulduggery affecting the outcome of wars and so on.
another interesting thing about it is that it has some illustrations pertaining to the story including some of the antisemtic newspapers that existed in france around the turn of the 19th-20th centuries. then on page 539... i nearly spat out my beer
