Of course, because it's difficult to acknowledge that there is nothing special about you. Books or authors that explain the increase of irony in the last 30 years?

I wonder if it has to do with fact that develope countries move from heavy industry to a service industry. Heavy industry countries seek and produce products that useful for the whole whereas in countries with services economies the products isn't as important as long as you sell it and can make a profit.
