I used to love writing as a kid, but honestly I think a lot of being an artist of any kind is wanting to be good at your craft, and the best way to know you're good is to have people outside of yourself say it. Since I haven't had that in a while, writing for current stuff just feels like I'm putting a bullet through my skull.

Not sure what you mean about me being wrong about my intuitions. Are you saying have I thought that being an author isn't for me? Cause yeah, I have thought about that before, but I keep coming back to it as a form of artistic expression. The fuck ups keep happening when I try to balance what I've got in my head with what I think people will understand.

Thanks for the feedback, it's actually pretty useful to read. I think some of my issues stem from it being in third person or just fantasy in general, cause it sounds really detached when I write it out I guess. Maybe it's just that my gut feeling on how descriptions work is just garbage, but then again I don't really know. Often when I'm writing I sort of just get into this flow where I'm moving from point to point like I'd recall something personally. In the end I think that comes off like I'm just listing bullshit, and when I try to add in flavor text or adverbs/adjectives it just comes off as phony.

Would audio books count? I have trouble finding the time to sit down and just read something, and doing it from a computer screen hurts my eyes.
