Someone gifted me the Murakami book a long time ago (but with a cat on the cover) and I never read it. I don't even have the slightest clue what it's about.

Pretty much the same thing as the movie but a little more violent if I recall correctly. Hunger Games brought the concept of battle royale to the west and it's the main reason why it was a success. First 2 books blew me away when I was 9-10 but then I got into anime at 13-14 and realised that the whole concept of battle royale was nothing new. Overall, I thinks it's good YA for kids getting into books but it's pretty mediocre if you're an experienced reader. The third book is also pretty shit.

>Works such as the Illiad, Hamlet, Mozart and Kind of Blue were created for the sake of mass consumption in their own time and day, serving in great part as entertainment
>Shakespearean plays being his time and day's equivalent of a well-written Netflix series nowadays
>Stuff like Blade Runner 2049, Inland Empire and Stalker are created with the intent of being art first and entertainment second
>They are objectively "artistic" or even literary in their essence but the medium or the genre is going to make so that they can't be considered so

>this retarded use of "utopianism"
>high entertainment requires no irony or fourth-wall-breaking
lol
>tends to avoid fashion but inherently stylized through the aesthetics of genre
>this pathetic dilettante inclusion of jazz as high culture when it was created as a fun experiment by drunks and junkies in nightly bars

Honestly shut the fuck up and don't expose how much of a dilettante, philistine you truly are. Pathetic teenage historical illiterates like yourself posturing about your late-elementary school reading and writing skill that attempts a flimsy grasp at understanding the greek ancient classics are a cancer and can be sniffed away by anyone older than 20. You are embarrassing yourself.
