Ok bros, I gotta come clean; I'm only about 10% into this and its actually not horrible? I never watched the show but I do know some of the major spoilers and deaths so I'm not expecting to be too surprised, so far I've been enjoying it; GRRM's prose is nothing special, very simple and functional and maybe a bit repetitive (also what do fantasy authors have against using 'said' as a dialog tag? I saw another anon's post complaining about how the author will use anything but 'said' and I've noticed the same thing in this book: GRRM will use shit like 'she suggested, 'he promised,' 'he growled' and almost anything else but 's/he said'). Character work is where GRRM really shows his writing skills; there are bits and pieces of actually great character writing scattered throughout; my only complaint so far is that its difficult to keep up with all the families and houses and names and characters he just throws at you (names especially, up until the most recent chapter I thought Ned Stark and Eddard Stark were two separate characters and I was really confused). But like I said, I'm only 10% so maybe my thoughts will change; If I like it I think I'll read up to book three and just skin the synopsis

also
>Dany is only 13 when she starts getting pounded by the dothraki dude
so there wasn't any outrage or anything when GRRM started writing about 13yr olds breasts and pussies? ok then
