You don’t need an agent.
Self publish your book for free on KDP and simply establish a royalty on your books which will be printed on demand.
At most you should be hiring somebody to market the book for you, and you should be investing in marketing to sell your book, but you do not need an agent.

A literary agent’s job is to middleman your relationships with publishers, query your work for publishing, and secure you contracts that serve you. A traditional publishers job is to print AND SELL your book to wholesalers. A wholesaler’s job is to sell your book to customers. Because you are selfpublishing, you will be marketing your book directly to wholesalers.

I’m order to market your book to wholesalers, you can use a marketing firm, but you can always use a distributor, who actually work for publishers. This might seem a little convoluted but it is true. Traditionally published authors are not expected to market their own book (though that’s changing). In contrast, selfpublished authors are expected to not only market the book, but to pretty much handle every other aspect of the books development.
