should i read this? i got a copy for free. i enjoyed wind up bird but felt "hardboiled wonderland & the end of the world" and "kafka on the shore" were mostly wastes of time, maybe only because murakami tends to repeat himself. i've heard mixed things about this

My GF got me 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami, and she wants me to read it. I got her Siddhartha and she read, and this book is a little long but I can easily read this shit in a few days due to my neetdom, so I. Gonna read it either way, I just want /lit/ to tell me about what I'm in for. She typically has pretty good taste in books, and I've seen a few guys on /lit/ rec Murakami before, but I still have barely heard shit about him in general. Any tips?

It was the first book I read after 3 years and it sucked me right in. Since then, I've read his other books and they've all been just above average (eg. After Dark, Kafka on the Shore, Hardboiled Wonderland was the first ever book I stopped reading through halfway)
