Watched 'End of the Tour' last night, film about David Foster Wallace being interviewed by David Lipsky from Rolling Stone Magazine.
It was pretty good and made me want to read Infinite Jest however I haven't delved into books that long in an even longer time, is there anything similar in prose/style either by him or another that might act as a gateway of sorts?

at times overly intellectual and obtuse, but he's funny and occasionally portrays real emotions. when howard bloom said he had no discernable talent, he never read "forever overhead." the idea of rereading infinite jest is nauseating but i return to his short fiction and essays occasionally.

Pretty sure DFW is the guy that hates DFW the most. He was well aware of how shitty of a person he was.

Thoughts on his suicide note(s)?

I thought it really gave insight to a lot he was talking about in Infinite Jest and the Pale King.

>Like, I’m just a regular guy and not some like overly academic postmodernist literary avant-garde sort of ivory-tower experimental metafictional ironic titty-twisting pretentious sort of intellectual, you know, some academic who’s, you know, stuffy and just over educated in a university or something. I’m just a regular guy named Dave who likes to watch TV and movies and stuff like you, and I’ve even smoked weed, like, a lot of weed. And I played tennis when I was a teen too, so you can tell I’m not just some over-intellectual sort of like intellectual dude you know? I’m down to earth.
>and but so anyway what I think is the really sad thing about modern America is that we’re all addicted to entertainment and irony and consumerism and media and stuff, and we began to lose track of what’s really important. Sincere Truth with, like, a capital ‘T’
Was there ever a greater hack than this?
