I know this is cliche, but how do people justify this blatantly ripping of Fellowship of the Ring
>heros are innocent nobodies from small village
>hooded figures are servants of the dark one
>mindless hordes of evil non human soldiers
>Ravens act as spies
>Led by a wizard and ranger
Probably other stuff I'm forgetting. If I was the publisher I would have laughed at Robert Jordan

CS Lewis is a good bet as well and Tolkien, they are some of my favorites but can be more difficult for a young child.
I really like The Wheel of Time series and think it would be a good gateway drug into classic fantasy series while also being good in it's own right. The audiobooks for these are some of the best ever recorded. Theres a male and female voice actor depending on whose character we're following. I think audiobooks are good for kids because it helps them learn how to pronounce proper nouns (there are a lot of weird names in fantasy books). Also it can help them read slightly above their grade level because the reader is doing most of the work. I always had the book AND the audiobook growing up and that kept me coming back and rereading series later.

GoT competed with The Wheel of Time before it became more famous with its HBO series. The series started in the 80s and finished only a few years ago, so it's devoid of all the SJW BS. Everyone in the series is trad and male/female genders roles are clearly defined for example. The cons is that it's 13 long books, but at least it's completely finished unlike A Song of Fire and Ice. Some people think the author is generally too wordy, but if ANYTHING the first book is great and worth the read for anyone considering the epic fantasy genre.

It's also going to become a tv series in a few years, so you'd be prepping before the storm.

If you want to be a boring pleb, read The Name of the Wind.

Can anyone recommend me or at least mention a standalone fantasy book?

No trilogy, no 5 part series, etc; it needs to be a complete one and done. I tried looking and I was surprised that authors must have a hard time writing a single beginning and end story in 1 one book because there aren't that many.
