Personally, I can feel the deep biases the author has for Jean Louise. I don't feel she portrays the side of Atticus fairly or accurately.

Wtf. This was literally fanfiction. Why is it that when authors start writing another book in a series after many years it turns out to be shit?

I'd like this thread to serve two purposes:

(1) Is pic related really as bad as I've been led to believe? I know TKaM gets a lot of flak on here (can't be sure how much of it is sincere, obviously), but I think it's pretty terrific, especially for younger readers, and I'd prefer to hear the opinions of others who think highly of TKaM. Whatever your opinion, please also provide specifics.

(2) Do you know of any lesser known sequels worth looking into? It seems to me that when it comes to books, as with movies, the sequels tend to be shittier than the originals. I'd like to know if there are any that are as good or better than their originals.

Without spoiling any of the events in this book, can anyone who has read this tell me whether or not I, having read the first book, should consider reading this?

So I finally got around to finishing this. I thought it was a great coming of age story and I'm glad Atticus was a racist. It makes TKAM that much better.

People who have a problem with the book are just going through the same anger phase as Scout and need to grow up.
