Just finished Ulysses and it was beautiful. The book is a unceasing torrent. Some mention Pynchon (particularly GR) as being difficult to read. Ulysses demands far greater concentration and thought, but rewards the reader with unprecedented riches.

My only regrets are that I didn't feel very emotionally involved and many of the references went over my head, because it was a first read and without a guide.

Have you read Ulysses? What did you think of it? How does it compare to Finnegans Wake?

How do I escape the cycle of suffering? How do I leave maya, the illusion? Basically I realized everything we do here on Earth is just a bunch of pointless garbage and I want to escape from it, but how? Is it even possible?

>all this no free will cope from people trying to comfort me
It really doesn't work. None of you can even form a single coherent argument. Believe me, I've already tried convincing myself there isn't free will. It must be obvious from my posts that I've already thought long and hard about the issue. I just can no longer accept the no free will cope. It's simply not true, as much as I would like it to be true...

Hello guys,

I've been around this website now and then for some years but I never knew this board. Honestly I discovered it because of a Youtube channel. Anyways I found it really interesting. I think this is one of the best boards here.

I'll get to the point: I'm really interesting in reading "interesting" stuff. I don't know how to call it. Philosophy, books about economics, social skills... But I don't know where to start. IM AFRAID TO START READING NIETZSCHE WHILE UNPREPARED FOR IT (sorry caps, just wanted to make clear my main point)

OP, I feel for you. You remind me of someone I once knew, long ago, who was so terrified of this same approach that he just shut himself down.

Don't shut down OP, don't flutter the thought. Working is hard. Socializing is hard. But it gets easier. The longer you do it, the easier it'll be.

Since 4chan has gotten so bad lately I've been doing other things but 4chan used to be all I'd do. So that something is life.

First the logging mill is all but empty and they have to work so hard just to get a bite. Then Majorie is a know it all so she isn't responsive and to top it all off Bill comes out of of nowhere who appears to be his bf. He also said it isn't fun anymore like he's become emotionally numb.

I usually don't do these kinds of threads, but here the occasion was hard to pass on.
How do you answer to this, /lit/:
https://electricliterature.com/dear-men-please-stop-assigning-reading-to-me/

Do you recognize yourself in that description? A key example:
>I recently met a waiter who insisted that I peruse his thesis on Heart of Darkness before accompanying him to a screening of Apocalypse Now.
