Since 2021 is winding to a close, let's post our favorite book that we read this year

This is the only book that has made me laugh out loud multiple times.
For me? It's Major Major Major Major and Milo Minderbinder

And it's not funny. The most cringe sort of autism humor where I can clearly see the author wants me to laugh, but I'm not cause it sucks too much.

Can someone recommend me a book that's actually funny? Not confederacy of dunces cause that sucks too. thanks

I am a non-native English speaker. I'm reading aloud Catch-22 to get better at speaking. The vocabulary is quite rich and the text in itself is easy to read and I like the story and its humor.

Do you know similar books?

Catch 22. I'm starting to read "seriously" so I don't really know what to make of it. Some sections are really funny, but also war is bad? I feel bad knowing I'm probably not extracting even half of what the book has to offer but I don't want to check sparknotes to understand every book I read.

I didn't stop laughing the entirety of catch-22 until the end .
Maybe it's more funny for me because I'm in the army, but I think anyone who's been a part of a large bureaucracy will get the humor.
Everybody should laugh at Major Major Major Major.

Do you have any complaints about this novel? The way it's written, the plot, the characters, themes or anything else? Every time I read it, I notice something new, and I was thinking that maybe the perspective of people who don't like aspects of it, or the whole thing, could give new insights into it.

hey /lit/
do you know any podcast completely british? they can read books or whatever, the point is being totally british.

I'd like to improve my capacity as a listener (since I'm not a native speaker) the problem is, American is so much easier to me than Brit, and I found so many "british" podcast that has only the host as one, then every single time the guest is American.

thank you kindly

pic unrelated, but It's a good book

I currently reading this book. I'm now on chapter eight, but I haven't gotten the spirit yet. It hasn't been exciting me. It gets better? If not, I'm going to drop out of it and start to reading a García Márquez novel.

Just finished it. Can we talk about this?

The part were Mcwatt kills Kid Sampson with his plane and then kills himself after letting everyone jump of the plane. God, that was sad. Also, Yossarian's final walk in Rome. So many feelings

OP I had the same problem as you and heres how I fixed it:

>pick a book you enjoy, this is obvious but quintessential
>go read somewhere public, somewhere that you can confortably read for 2+ hours. I usually picked coffee shops or a mcdonalds, so I can grab a coffee or ice cream to reward myself to commiting to read
>give yourself time on the way back home to think about the book, much of the appreciation and value found in reading happens when you put the book down. I usially do this by walking instaed of driving
