The more I learn English the less I feel like I actually "know" it. You get fucking nowhere just by knowing grammar. So much of the language is idiomatic and breaks rules, and then there are all these regional differences and modern additions...I've been studying English over 20 years, but still come across new shit every fucking day. I think I'm going to go insane

How does one need to "focus on spelling" to not fuck up everything? I don't need to consciously think about it when I write in my own language, it's technically impossible that I'd make mistakes in what I've spoken all my life.

I'm ESL and lately I've started to see even native britbongs type "oki" instead of okay, or OK. Why? How does it turn to that? It's often followed by emoticons too and looks retarded. I cringe every time I see it.
