The Edge Chronicles and maybe Darren Shan's series about demons were the ones that stuck with me the most

Does someone know this? It's technically a child series but that doesn't stop it from being full of disgusting and brutal things. Characters literally die like flies. The lore is pretty interesting tough.

Re-reading the series now (last time was literally when I was 13) and I have to say it holds up pretty well even for an adult. It's ideal if you don't have the time or energy for a demanding, complex series, but on the other hand it's definitely not dumbed down. I would say it is for smart kids. Tons of illustrations too. You could finish a book in 2 days if you're dedicated. The slightly larger fonts than adult books is very easy to read.
