the perfect balance

>wrote for twelve hours a day through 2015 and even got a short story published in what felt like the comforting beginnings of a career
>got too depressed and into drugs and didn't write anything for the next three years as my brain was absolutely JUSTed
>got completely sober in the past few months and just started writing again two weeks ago at a level at or near where I was before the break
I'm trying not to beat myself up over all the time I lost and just be grateful that I'm writing again.

I started going early to bed, sleep for eight hours and wake up at 5am to do yoga and meditate. Then, when I'm all peaceful and calm and the birds are singing at the start of a new day, I sit under the trees and read Plato. Leisurely, taking notes and going over everything I learn. All bad thoughts are swept away by this pure enjoyment, and I go about my day feeling wholesome and comfy, waiting for the next morning when I can hopefully wake up again to the world and have fun reading and learning new things.

Can a good story ever be more than 1(or maybe 3) books long?

I'm reading the wheel of time fantasy series now, and it's getting a bit boring around book 5 or so
