Those types of videos are cancer; my wife is like flies to a piece of shit for the Harry Potter ones. The implausible theories were a fun staple of /got/ threads back in the day though. Daario=Euron is one I still subscribe to.

The books are good. Not sure I'd recommend anyone investing themselves in them when there's no chance at all they'll ever finished, but since you've said you're only reading up to book 3 that's a pretty good place to drop it (book 3 is the best, in my opinion). You could be doing worse with your time.
One thing I really like about the books is all the prophesies and prophetic dreams that aren't touched on much in the show, or they don't go anywhere. Jaime has a particularly good one around the time he goes on a completely different character arc to the show — instead of going to Dorne with Bronn and letting his sword do the talking he actually sets out with Ser Ilyn Payne (the mute executioner) and starts trying to make peace using diplomacy. The show really shit the bed there, and it wasn't the only time.

Game of Thrones threads on /tv/ used to be a pretty good place to talk about other fantasy stories, since most people there had read the books they'd naturally read other fantasy too. That's where I first got recommended Book of the New Sun, in fact.
Those were fun threads, shit but good.
