I'm looking to find books that help with understanding my own psychology and why I do what I do. For example, why I try to be a nice guy to make people like me even though it makes me come off as passive, why I come back to people that hurt me. Why people as a whole fall into peer pressure or why people tend to desire things that are harmful to them.

This is just a small part of what I want to learn but I think that understanding myself and other people will be a good tool to have in self improvement and help other people. Just no meme books. I'm trying to study psychology and understand human actions and why they do what they do on a social level.

What books does /lit/ recommend a twenty year old kid who doesn't have the slightest clue what to do with his life and is currently just drifting around?
