What do you do after finishing a book and reflecting on it? Do you do research to try and find other perspectives on it? I do but for less popular books it feels as of there's generally very little of substance out there. Having a book club is nice but it takes a while to condition others to read actually good stuff you can discuss in this day and age. I've begun conjuring characters in my mind and having dialogues about the book with them because I need to bounce ideas off something. It also seems like /lit/ doesn't generally want to discuss specific books unless they're the latest fad on here.

In my humble opinion I consider the current environment the last hurrah of that camp. Once the republican powerbase becomes insignificant the entire spectrum will shift further left as the moderate democrats become the "anchor" of the right side of the spectrum. As it always has historically. Similarly to how we don't have significant political forces advocating for feudalism as countries did in the past, the people of the future will look at the right wingers sucking big money's dick as ridiculous.

Let's be honest, how much contemporary philosophy gets discussed here period, Continental or Analytic? /lit/ is stuck in a perpetual adolescence as people leave after reading enough to realise this board is trash and newbies arrive starry-eyed to start with the greeks, the average settling somewhere around Kant but never progressing to contemporary work. I've come to think that the inherited autism about approaching the canon chronologically has retarded discussion and tends to produce exegetes rather than thinkers.
