Anyway, happiness for me would be
-dignity/being successful as a man (desired, powerful, etc)
-freedom (socially/mentally, financially, physically)
-friends, family, and a wife/girlfriend

So, pretty similar to OP, with the exception of a bit more emphasis on being a "winner" for lack of a better term.

Prisoners turn to Allah and God because they want a way out. Comfort. Joy. They want something out of it and all they have to do is be dogmatic about a book.
Why would a prisoner, on balance, find it more likely that God exists? He wouldn't. Bad places aren't called "God forsaken" for nothing.

Basically, if God were real I don't think he would count conversion under duress.
Go back to my previous examples. Someone captive to an abusive relative may pray a lot, but do they really believe, or do they just want the pain to stop?
