meh. Sputnik Sweetheart was better. Why is this lauded as Murakami's best?

I'm looking for books with a magical-realist Lynchian aesthetic. Murakami is pretty close to that but I've already read most of his books and I'm looking for more. Right now I'm reading the House of Leaves which is good and all but the horror is too overt to be Lynchian

My already decreasing immersion is ruined.
Why did he do this bros? Why is Murakami so retarded sometimes.

>first few pages of book
>sad teen boy runs away from home
>immediately approached, comforted, and given a place to stay by a hot girl
How does Murakami get away with it? Isn't this just anime in literary form plus a bunch of philosophical mumbo-jumbo? I enjoyed the book a lot, but I have a strange feeling that there's no takeaway, like many novels have. It's just "whoa...that was really something" and that's it. Same with every other Murakami novel I've read. They are unrealistic - always hot young women coming out of nowhere into the life of a protagonist who takes no initiative. Very fun, but definitely fantasy.
