I'm looking for a good story (might be novel, short story, play or smth else), where the protagonist gets involved in different conspiracies which all grow over his/her head and he/she starts to lose his/her personal life. The protagonist should develop an obsession with the conspiracy and start to lose the sense of reality. Maby the protagonist doesn't have something to believe in and discovers it at the end maby not. It should be like anti-Matrix, the protagonist should see, that he/she can't control something bigger than him/her and and therefor accept the machine. Darren Aronofskys movie "Pi" is something similar to the character and story. Anybody can help me with that? Even you know something similar to which i described would be helpful.
