I've got 5 credits on Audible and I need to spend them all before I cancel my membership. Recommend me some audio books.

What are your favorite books on audible?

For me It's A Confederacy of Dunces. I listen to it at least once a year.

Thoughts of Audiobooks?
Is it cheating? Is there something lost by not reading the book yourself? Or is a valid way to consume the literature?

At the end of the day you getting the same content

I can't comprehend how people listen to fiction audio books. The only audio books I've listened to so far were a few non-fiction books, but when it comes to fiction, I always get lost when I try to listen to them.
I don't think I'm dumb (chemistry grad student), I've read hundreds of physical books, I listened to a shitton of podcasts, but honestly, fiction in audio format is something I can't comprehend nor do I think I want to. Do people just accept that they'll have to skip sentences they don't understand immediately since the audiobook will go on unless they rewind it? I feel like I constantly have to rewind, and it makes it so much harder to think about a sentence or a paragraph in its larger context without holding the rest of it visually in my head. Do people just accept that they'll lose out on the aesthetic aspect of the written word? I feel like I don't lose out on the spoken aspect since I subvocalize most of what I read.
But most of all, as I've said, I just feel completely lost when I listen to fiction. Maybe I'm slow, but I can't visualize the scene I'm listening to as I'm listening to it. It just doesn't work for me. Am I the only one?

Does anybody else listen to audiobooks? I find them easier to understand than physical media.

Any standouts in terms of production or specific narrators that enhance the listening experience?

It's not a substitute for sitting down and reading but i've got the option to listen to music/podcasts/audiobooks while at work, so why not get some extra reading done?

Been listening to the first two seasons of the Unobscured podcast about the salem witch trails, and the spiritualist movement. More podcasts like this?

I felt like a kid again. I can’t believe the reluctance I had to try this.
