>From the pages of "The Purgatorio"
>Short Biography of Dante Alighieri
>Timeline of his life
>Short summary of every canto of the book
>53 page introduction that is almost a verbatim copy and paste from the one I already read before The Inferno
>Notes to the introduction, short bio on the guy who wrote it
>Map of the mountain of Purgatory

The actual poem goes here
>Artwork interspersed throughout the pages of the poem

>155 pages of endnotes, almost as many pages as the poem itself, probably more if you consider that the poem is arranged in such a way as to take up more page space, and the aforementioned images take up a lot of space
>Six Sonnets inspired by the Divine Comedy by the original translator of the work
>A selection of other works inspired specifically by The Purgatorio
>Comments made by other historically notable figures in literature about The Purgatorio
>Questions developed by the Barnes and Noble Jew intended to facilitate discussion amongst a reading group (as if I would ever meet any other human being in person autistic enough to actually give a shit about all this like I do for some fucking reason)
>At last, a list of other works and resources that you may want to look at for further information on the work

I actually kind of enjoy these editions of the Divine Comedy but for most other works that approach this level of ridiculousness it almost ruins the experience. The Catholic bible I just purchased has annotations like every 3 verses and it makes reading so tedious.
Reading the introduction to the Purgatorio though, in all fairness, does add to the whole experience by making you feel like you are actually trapped in Purgatory.
