Is this an unhealthy book for sufferers of depression and anxiety?

Why is everything the Japs do so great? I could never stomach the assigned reading through all of my schooling because it was always some drab story I had zero interest in. Then I found this gem. Due to past letdowns/experiences, I kept putting it off but eventually blazed through it in two sittings and enjoyed in immensely. I'd appreciate any similar suggestions that I could look through.

Here are some of the quotes that resonated with me the most:

I just finished reading this, and it is about a fuck-up. I don't think the protagonist had any great ambitions. I see it recommended on here, but I don't know what I was supposed to get out of it. It's a short read, though.

Fuck you guys. This book has nothing to do with being an outcast. This is just the diary of some melancholy nip Chad. This is the 'wahh I'm so depressed and smoke a lot of cigarettes and wear all black and go to art school' tumblr portrayal of being an outcast. There's nothing here about seeing the disgust on women's faces when you try to make conversation with them. There's nothing here about girls asking you out as a joke while her friends who dared her to giggle from a distance. This is just the diary of a melancholy CHAD.

Damn. Just finished this. Didn't think much of it until the final third, and even then didn't think it was amazing, but then I got to the end of the third notebook (not the epilogue) and I am completely floored.

I am a bit confused about one part because of the way it was written, so what happened to his pure waifu was that she got raped by the shopkeeper guy and Yozo didn't stop him even though he saw it going down? Was that what happened?
