Hey guys, what do you think about this novel? I'm waiting for it to arrive in the mail, and I thought I'd like to read your opinions. My hopes are pretty fucking up already, and no, I haven't watched the movies, I'm planning to watch them after I finish the book.

This book is great. The originality and erudition on display here is astounding. Lem shows all us plebs how sci-fi is done.

How are his other books? I picked up another book of his called "The Investigations", but I'd definitely be up to reading his other sci-fi if it's anything like Solaris.

What do you guys think of the connections between 2001 and Solaris? Does anyone know if Kubrick or Clarke knew Polish or French? Because if the English translation of Solaris wasn't published after 2001 was made I'd be convinced that it was inspired by Solaris.
