In a sense, yes, but on purpose. Paul being a 'white saviour' is not a good thing. Part of the reason people believe this is that most people only read the first book and don't consider Dune Messiah. Yes, everything that is happens in Messiah is foretold in the first book, but people who read SF don't pay attention to subtext.

I only read the first two called "Dune" and "Dune Messiah" and they are awesome. will continue eventually but after I read a couple of different books

I've got a few long flights coming up and I was looking for something to read, and I decided I wanted to try the dune series. does anyone have any decent ebook versions of the first 4 books? the ones I've found have some really weird formatting

Are the non-Frank books really that bad?

How much of a pleb am I if I loved the original Dune but found the sequels dull and boring?
I'm halfway through chapterhouse and I'm extremely tempted to drop it.

Hell, I even enjoyed Brian's House trilogy better than the Frank sequels, but that might be because Duke Leto is my favorite character in the series

Why does Children of Dune get memed on? I'm about halfway through it and so far it's been pretty decent.
