Poetry works upon the function of subtlety, ambiguity. Its beauty has a both ephemeral and lasting quality. Prose is by definition a very limited form compared to poetry, in an artistic sense. Even if it tries aping poetry's subtlety, it will always be inferior to the actual thing.

Not true. You've literally never read good poetry if you say that. When the sublime is good it's so good you don't even know it's there. It's like a psychedelic experience, constantly teetering on the edge of real-unreal. That's where the beauty, where the magic lies.
