Hello /lit/.
I'm a fairly young chap who grew up in a very "computerized" home, but as I've grown up reading has become a part of my everyday life.
So far I have read about a hundred book, probably a few over thay number rather than under it, and I'm starting to really get into the whole reading thing quite greatly.
Now, for the summer that is to come I have a lot of free time and I have only planned 4 books that I wish to read.

One specific book that I for some reason really want to read is pic related, but I did try reading it once but stopped when after 20 pages or so I ubderstood very little of it.
I've come to realize that my english skills fail me when trying to read books like this one, and I really want to learn more english. It is not at all my mother tounge and I am still taking classes in english as part of my education.

What I am asking of you /lit/ is if you can reccomend any particular books for me to read during summer that might help speed things up when it comes to learning a bit more advanced english.

Why don't you kiddos try the gulag archipelago?

Is this book worth the read? Does it hold merit outside of pure documentation? Best English translation? Abridged or no?

Is it any good? How accurate is it?

I've read "a day in the life of ivan denisovich" and really liked it as biography.

What is the The Gulag Archipelago about? Is it worth it? Is it more of the same?
Jordan Peterson keeps praising this book.

Hi guys, i need some support.

Im reading this right now and it's killing me. The problem that Im having with this book is Solzhenitsyn himself. I think his own experiences in the Archipelago are ruining the book. It's really personal, which makes the whole book seem angry and full of resentement that it makes me feel like im intruding and reading something that im not supposed to be reading.

Fuck this, really liking the book otherwise.

Anyone else having/or had any probles with this?

Unfortunately, that kind of writings remain un-promoted and un-translated in other language than the original.
But you could always read some Solzhenitsyn.

gulag archipelago. just started reading it. and it is fucking brilliant. has anyone read through all three books?

The Gulag Archipelago by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, I feel like very impervious person, yet I couldnt go on, just couldnt, I couldnt find the will to flip the page. Ended on about 150 pages of second volume
