Youkai are much stronger and more durable than humans, and abuse their powers way too much. The entire reason the two are fighting is because of the youkai, and yet according to Byakuren they're the ones being persecuted. She's delusional, and obviously isn't going to be of any help at all.

You need to consider the time period during which Byakuren was sealed. Humanity was actively trying to exterminate the youkai, and were probably doing a pretty good job of it. When they find out that Byakuren was hiding the youkai to protect them, they seal her away. Hundreds of years later she's unsealed, and the first being she encounters is a human. One might imagine that being imprisoned for so long would cause one to come to resent their captors. But no, the first thing she decides to do is to continue her campaign for equality. Not revenge, not for the youkai to rule over humanity.

When you're trying to correct an imbalance, you don't do so by adding more to the heavier side. If it seems that Byakuren favors the youkai, it is only because during her time they were the weaker side, and in a way they still are.
