I support good software.

But I wish I had some freedom too, since it's actually getting shittier as of late. Still nowhere near the level of Furryfox of Botnet, but it's getting there. I want to think I'd fix all the bugs and unmaintained functionality if I could.

>> No.9674774

chroman here.

thumbs up if you use google chrome too

>> No.9674821

I use FireFox, but Opera is also good. I don't trust Chrome enough to install or try it.

I use firefox.

I dont see what the problem is with using it.

I use a ny own build of firefox.

I use my own build of firefox*
my typing is masterful.

Back in my day you either used firefox or opera. There was no chrome.

Back in MY day, it was either Mozilla and Opera. And that's just when there started to be a choice at all. I actually stuck to Lynx before that, that's how awful IE and Netscape were.

I still remember when Firefox came out and everyone was jizzing over how fast and unbloated it was.

>> No.9674932

I use chrome but IE has a special place in my heart so occasionally click on it and then exit 5 minutes later (I could never delete it entirely)

Is it even possible to deinstall IE without fucking Windows up?

Get one of the other ones based of the same browser engine, like SRWare Iron or Comodo Dragon. Firefox is still better if you use a lot of addons and are used to using it.

I think it's fine but uses a lot of memory and doesn't handle many tabs well. besides that and the download manager it's alright.

Firefox uses a restrictive trademark for their artwork, and therefore interferes with freedom 3. For a browser that respects your freedoms, please use abrowser.

It's funny how some people think that others only use Firefox because they're furries.
It's also funny how it's perfectly possible that some people only use Firefox because they're furries.

>> No.9678438

I used chrome for 4chan as 4chan x has stopped working in Nightly for me. Maybe I should switch to firefox beta insetad

>> No.9678467

>>9678438
Use Greasemonkey instead of Scriptish. Scriptish is abandonware now.

>> No.9678475

>>9678438
If you can't figure out how to make 4chan x work in Nightly, you should never have used it.

The whole Nightly craze started when it really had far superior memory management and less bugs than the stable Firefox around version 4 to 7 or so, but these days the difference is much smaller and doesn't offset the bugs and problems that pre-alpha software causes for layman users.

If you really want to see new features before they get released to the public, you can use the Beta, or Aurora, even though Aurora sees critical bugs from time to time too.

Since barely anyone on /g/ knows what they're talking about, they continue to recommend it to other idiots, just how they still recommend Scriptish, even though it causes problems even with the stable Firefox version and hasn't had an update since january.

>> No.9678482

>>9678475

Layman here, what are these Scriptish problems? I have not run into any.

>> No.9678762

>>9678482
Not him but...

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=553102 changed a setting to now allow Web content (unprivileged) to interact with chrome objects (privileged code), resulting in increased security.

This breaks some extensions interacting with Web content in Aurora and Nightly (e.g. Scriptish script throws error when trying to write to the console). Both stable GM and Scriptish versions on AMO are affected in different ways currently, while versions built from the most recent revision don't.

tl;dr, use Stable or Beta until extension devs can update their shit.
