What is the oldest image you have? Generally most of the older ones relate to niche Japanese interests so they should be fair game. I figured I'd make this thread after I saw a reply to a picture I posted saying "That's a 7 year old picture, you got it off the archive right?".

Well no I was browsing this stupid site back then, that's why I have it.

Some of my files have had their created/modified dates screwed up, so I can't say for sure what my oldest image is. This one is fairly old. though. I don't think I've ever had a chance to post it.

This is the oldest image I have by modified date anyway. Everything before 2004 or so was lost with a hard drive problem.

Sad really, I used to have lots of links for japanese artist blogs/sites from the late 90s full of delicious old drawings I will never ever find again.

As for pics in general I found a few I saved back in May '98. Might be something even older lurking in some half-forgotten folder, but probably not but much.

Prior to 2009, I only really used a single harddrive at a time, and backing up my 4chan picture collection was never a high priority, so I can't go back super far like some of you fags.

But here's the oldest image I've got with a 4chan image ID, dated September of 2008.

So did I. What a lot of people here don't realize is that you can take the old hard drive out from the last computer when you get/build a new one. one of my HDDs is from a computer that is probably from like 2001. They just accrue.

I wonder if everyone who said their computer broke took the HDD from it before ditching it or if they really meant the HDD broke.

Oh no, I knew that. I've assembled my own machines since I was 14 and they still had ISA slots.

I'd just use a harddrive until it died. SATA was finally starting to phase out ide drives in 2009 so for a while I just used both. Then I got used to having more than one drive and replaced that drive when it died with another sata drive.

The oldest file I had actually wasn't in my general Random folder but rather my Misc Anime Images folder. It's from May 2005, just about the same time I quit school. Some of my favorite memories ever have to do with sitting in my room browsing this site.
