I've always assumed that it would be technology made to emulate magic in some way. How that works though, I don't even know. I'm even less sure of how Chiyuri's powers would work.

It can be assumed however that it's far less potent than actual magic, or else PoDD wouldn't even have taken place.

Touhou 14 will start from SDM and go on until the Moon.
There the moonbitches will settle the dispute between the religions.
The extra boss is Kasen.
Also stage 1 mid-boss is Patchouli and stage 1 boss is Remilia, who has been reduced from a proud stage 6 boss to a shitty stage 1 boss

Not really, Yumemi and Chiyuri are pretty popular. Yumemi especially. If you think Mima is the most popular PC-98, you're wrong. Shinki is probably the most popular one.

Not if you define a ghost as the spirit of the dead.

A poltergeist is a psychic manifestation of a living person. They don't necessarily control the poltergeist, these are their own beings.
Kana's background is that she is a poltergeist who's "creator", a girl, got bored of her, so she wandered in search of something to do. A place to belong.

The lyrical sisters are also poltergeists, by the way, with a not dissimilar story.

She has no connections with anyone else and could easily fit into any story same with Kana.(I think Kana started staying with Reimu in her ending actually)

Calling it now, St. Francis Xavier loli and her servant Anjiro. The two will show up and try to rid Gensokyo of any rival religions save Catholicism, and quash heresy. So each main character has to team up with the head of a major faith. So it would be something like:

Reimu-Byakuren
Sanae-Suwako/Kanako
Marisa-Miko

Maybe throw in a youkai-centered team too, since they are technically demons and would be targeted as well.
