I only picked up EoSD in December of last year. I'm late to the party, and I feel bad for it.

On the other hand, I have a Normal 1cc of all the integer Windows games (aside from PoFV but I don't care for that game), I've beaten the Extra Stages of those games, and I also have a Hard 1cc of all those games aside from UFO. This summer has been almost nothing but playing Touhou.

Fuck, I'm getting old. I remember playing EoSD and PCB every day between classes in college, until I was finally able to 1cc them on lunatic. EoSD took me almost 2 years, and I haven't touched it since my only 1cc lunatic run...Remi's last spellcard was so infuriating I didn't even want to play it anymore, but I kept going for completion's sake. Maybe I should pick it up again.

...fuck that noise, I'll just keep playing eXceed 3. EoSD was painful, even if the characters are great.

I think if you played the later games first (or more) you're more used to things like having a visible hitbox. ZUN clearly designed this game differently, taking into account the fact that you just had to surmise where your hitbox is. I imagine it tripped a few people up.

It's actually a fairly easy STG if you can get over this hurdle. And I suck at STGs.

Are you the OP from the room thread with the late 90's Pentium rig playing Doom? I don't think Touhou is really for you until you can get a better computer. If you can somehow scrape together $300 for a netbook or something, you can at least get 50-55+ frames per second.

I never played EosD much because I also have a resolution bug. If I play fullscreen I will have like 700-1200 FPS (not even azn can beat this, trust me) although there's a fixed 60 FPS option.

But I'll give the extra stage a visit today, never finished this, because I loved the followups so much. You can't imagine how happy I was when I finished Imperishable Night on Lunatic 1cc. I used all lifes and bombs and jst when I got totally caught and would've died in like 0.5 sec I kicked Kaguya into her butt.

EoSD was one of the few games to really pull me in and make me to get better. I remember while I was still attending college, I would spend a lot of time after classes playing Extra, and even come home inbetween classes to get in a couple more runs. And when I finally completed it, it was one of the proudest achievements I've ever felt (alongside lunatic EoSD). It wasn't even a feeling of "fun", more like a sense of enjoyment I got from going from a state of feeling "wow, I seen videos of these crazy japanese shmup games before, no way i could ever hope to complete one" to slowly achieving that level through hard work.

Sorry if that seemed "bloggy" but i wanted to share how much EoSD has positively affected me in my life.

Since it's the 10th birthday of EoSD i decided to 1cc MarisaA, the only route i haven't 1cc normal yet. I did very good on stage1-4 but then got destroyed by Sakuya. Still i managed to beat Remiria Sukaretto. I'm so bad as playing Marisa.

Surprisingly, Sakuya is the culprit of PoFV.
